Contemporary dance draws on the strength and precision of ballet but opens up new possibilities: floor work, weight-sharing, breath, and a freer, more personal relationship to movement and music. For a dancer, training in both disciplines is enormously valuable. Nearly every college dance program, competition, and professional company today expects dancers to be versatile — comfortable in pointe shoes and bare feet alike.

Led by a Juilliard-Trained Professional

BBA’s contemporary division is led by Colin Fuller, a Melbourne native who earned his B.F.A. at The Juilliard School and studied at the Paris Opera Ballet and Nederlands Dans Theater. He has performed works by choreographers including José Limón, Merce Cunningham, and Lar Lubovitch. Having a teacher with that pedigree guiding contemporary work is a genuine advantage for Space Coast dancers.
