Kathleen Reau danced four seasons with Hamburg Ballet in Germany and eleven as a lead company member with BalletMet before bringing her international experience to Brevard Ballet Academy.
A European touring career, more than a decade as a lead company member, and a second career shaping young dancers — Kathleen Reau brings all of it to Brevard Ballet Academy in Melbourne, Florida.
Training at the School of American Ballet
Kathleen began her ballet training at the Reilly Academy of Ballet in Milwaukee before advancing to the School of American Ballet in New York City, the official training academy of the New York City Ballet and one of the most selective ballet schools in the country.
An International Performing Career
Her professional career began with the Hamburg Ballet in Germany — the internationally celebrated company led for decades by John Neumeier. As a company member for four seasons, Kathleen toured throughout Europe, Russia, and South America. She later completed eleven seasons as a lead company member with BalletMet in Columbus, Ohio, one of the largest professional ballet companies in the United States.
A Dedicated Teacher
After retiring from the stage, Kathleen taught at the Jansen Dance Project in Tampa, Point Park University in Pittsburgh, and the BalletMet Academy in Columbus. That teaching experience — at the university and professional-academy level — makes her an invaluable member of the BBA faculty for students pursuing serious, pre-professional ballet training in Brevard County.
